AN EXPLORATION OF THE CORRELATION BETWEEN FAILURE AND SELF-PERCEPTION
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
My name is Ryan Christopher Lee, and I’m a filmmaker and student based in New York City, finishing up my last semester at NYU. I decided for my final year at film school, I wasn’t going to make a thesis film unless I had a story I was burning to tell. When this one came to me, I felt a push within me to make it happen. It’s of the utmost importance that this film not only express what I’ve envisioned but resonates deeply with you, the viewer.
STORY
Arya finds herself amidst her climb to fulfillment. Aware of the path set before her through physical visualizations of other versions of herself making the climb before and after her, she’s consumed by the idea of who she’s supposed to be and how she is destined to continue. That is until Sophia, the Tormentor, knocks Arya down to rock-bottom and curses the sight of herself.
Ashamed by her appearance and failure, Arya finds herself unable to reascend her climb. Here, at her lowest point, Arya embarks on a journey through an alternate path she never knew existed, in hopes of finding the truth of who she is and what she is meant to do.
